Climate-positive sports bottles from Emballator – a huge success
Publicerat 2020-07-14Emballator Lifestyle’s strategic focus on developing sports and water bottles in sustainable materials is a huge success. The company is now the market leader within this area. “Our bottles are climate positive and I think that is pretty cool”, says Business Area Manager Robin Erdås.
The companies within the Emballator Group are consequently investing in the development of sustainable materials and products. A few years ago, Emballator Lifestyle decided to change their production entirely. Now the company’s bottles are manufactured from residual products from sugar production. Parts of the sugar cane that were previously discarded are used to make ethanol, which is the main constituent of the plastic material in Emballator Lifestyle’s bottles.
The magic? The sugar cane absorbs carbon dioxide as it grows, and as long as the bottle continues to be used and is not burned, the carbon dioxide is bound to the bottle. The initiative has been very well received by the market and now Emballator Lifestyle delivers customer-unique products to some of the largest players within several industries, from sports companies to public operations.
”They consider it a major strength that the products are manufactured in Sweden and transported short distances, which further reinforces the climate-positive effect and provides fast delivery.”
Today Emballator Lifestyle is the market leader in the Nordic countries when it comes to this kind of bottles. In fact, it is also the only company that has Nordic production of mold-blown bottles in sugarcane-based material.
”Changing our production was the simple thing. The big job has been to change our communication in order to reach the market. It has required a lot of work, but we have great customers who are initiated and appreciate our courage. In the future, I believe that this is what customers will expect from their suppliers,” Robin Erdås muses.
