Emballator Växjöplast invests in automation
Posted 2019-05-09To be able to make the production as effective as possible Emballator Växjöplast has decided to invest 30 million SEK to automate and rebuild their current production facilities. All internal transport, packaging and palletizing will be done with the help from automated guided vehicles (AGV) and an automated packaging system. This will free up more space in between the injection molding machines which will enable an increased number of machines.
-Our facilities are centrally located in Växjö and we have had our production there since the 1980s, but now our facility is getting crowded. We simply can´t fit additional machines with our current production flow. By fully automating and remove all manual handling and any peripherals needed we can densify the fleet. When doing so vi can increase our possibilities to grow which is the primary purpose with the investment, says Adam Airosto, Managing Director of Emballator Växjöplast.
One of the reasons for this investment is that the current facilities in Växjö are not possible to expand by reconstruction. Instead, the idea is to utilize the already existing space in the most efficient way. By automating the production, enough space for a number of new machines will be freed up. This will help Emballator Växjöplast to increase both their capacity as well as their productivity which will make them more profitable. Also, their food safety and product quality will be strengthened. The future of Swedish manufacturing industry is in automation, which make the investment a natural step for the company.
– A fully automated production flow is a way for us to do things differently compared to how we have been working for the last decades and it is in line with our lean philosophy. By this upgrade we will become more productive, more competitive and more profitable. Automation and digitizing are the future for Swedish industry and we continuously need to improve productivity. This investment makes us one of the most modern productions facility in our industry segment, says Adam Airosto.
Emballator Växjöplast will buy an automation system developed together with the company Front Automation located in Jönköping. The AGV:s will be delivered by Max AGV. The process of automating the production has been started during spring 2019 and the goal is to have everything up and running by the first quarter of 2020. The process involves reconstruction of the current layout of the facilities to make space for the new packaging central.
