Joakim Johannesson new CEO of Emballator Mellerud Plast
Posted 2020-09-11Born and raised nearby, in the archipelago of Lake Vänern, Joakim Johannesson feels right at home as the new CEO of Emballator Melleruds’ Plast.
“Emballator has a great team spirit that supports continued growth. I look forward taking part in the development of a company with strong roots in the local community. ”
The dialect reveals him. He’s from the hoods?
”Well, yes almost. I grew up at Värmlandsnäs, which is a large headland in Lake Vänern, nor that far from Mellerud. In the past, Lake Vänern was the logistic hub of the area so we have a lot of common in these parts of Sweden – from history to accent”, says Joakim Johannesson who takes great interest in local history, not least industrial history.
Before joining Emballator the first of September, Joakim Johannesson held a position as Director Sales and Marketing at Somas Instruments in Säffle, a company specializing in control and shut-off valves. With the new job as CEO of Melleruds’ Plast, he changes materials – again. An international career in sales has included everything from material handling systems at Electrolux MTH System to cellulose and pulp manufacturing. Among other things, he has sold fiber lines for Kverner and acted business area manager for Metso.
Nearby Säffle has always been the home he has returned to between his assignments abroad, and is where he lives with his family today. His leisure-time is devoted to outdoor life, hunting and fishing as well as to the local sports association. His new co-workers at Emballator may also consider to recruit Joakim to the quiz team at the next staff party.
“Yes, I really enjoy quizzing…”, admits Joakim who applied to Emballator Melleruds Plast for several reasons.
“I think that Emballator Melleruds’ Plast is complete in an exciting way as it controls the entire chain – from product development to its own production. Personally, I also like that Emballator is part of a family owned group. I really support Herenco’s values including the ambition to be involved locally and being an active part of the community.”
Now he is looking forward to lead the team in the continued growth process.
“I’ve been working actively with growth strategies in several companies before. Together, we have succeeded to develop and increase the growth of the companies in a very satisfactory way. Emballator Melleruds’ Plast also has great opportunities to develop over time. I feel we are a good team. There is a positive spirit in the company and that is important. ”
The challenge is, for Emballator like for many others, to develop sustainable solutions, says Joakim Johannesson:
“We have a product that can be further developed and I think we have great opportunities to take action and lead the way. Environmental issues apply to us all. We need to help our customers to solve their packaging challenges by creating packaging that is optimized from a sustainability point of view. ”
