Safe workplaces and a close cooperation between employer and the union is a win-win situation, at least according to Emballator Lagan Plast and the IF Metall union club.
In 2008 Emballator Lagan Plast started working with Produktionslyftet and has during the last years increased the collaboration with the local union clubs.
“Ten years ago, we didn’t have an active union club for the IF Metall members and that made us unprepared before negotiations and some people had a negative attitude towards the company, now all that is changed”, explains Robert Csipak, Technician and union club chairman at Emballator Lagan Plast.
The commitment within the union is valuable to both the company and the members of the union. Since 2017 the collaboration has increased markedly. At Emballator Lagan Plast all employees in production, except one, are members of the union.
“With an active board and knowledge, we can get result and that creates trust from the members. We need to go to educations and be structured to able to contribute in a good way. When we have a great dialogue with the company, we can solve problems before they are problems. We care about our relationship with the company and that’s a win-win situation”, says Robert Csipak.
As a part of developing the collaboration the management team at Emballator Lagan Plast and the union have monthly meetings. A way of getting questions and requests on the table in an early stage.
“We have established a great collaboration where it’s all about understanding each other. By sharing information from both sides at an early stage we see that changes are happening faster and more effective. It’s together that we make a difference and can meet our stakeholders needs, if we don’t agree and things take long time it will decrease our competitiveness. We in the management team are extremely proud of the development that we have created together”, says Håkan Larsson, CEO at Emballator Lagan Plast.
