Emballators’ AGVs enables added value
Posted 2022-04-12Emballator in Hjo invests in AGVs for a safe and efficient work environment.
”This way, our operators do not have to spend unnecessary time transporting pallets. Instead they can focus on the production”, says Jonas Strålman, Production Manager at Emballator in Hjo.
Driverless truck, auto truck or AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle)… Eskimos have a lot of words for snow. Solving internal logistics with the help of self-driving trucks has become increasingly common in the industry and at Emballator Tectubes in Hjo, a truck has been in operation for some time.
”We had a trial period where the AGV transports pallets plastic tubes from production to the warehouse. It has worked out well and now we plan to introduce the same routine for our aluminum production. The idea is that we will optimize the routes so that we can maximize the use of the AGV”, says Jonas Strålman, Production Manager at Emballator in Hjo.
The AGV is developed and produced in Sweden at BT Toyota Material Handling in Mjölby. Investing in this type of automation is a part of the sustainability strategy as it provides a better working environment while providing more efficient production, says Jonas Strålman.
“In this way, we eliminate non-value activities and achieve better work ergonomics. Even if the pallets are not very heavy to transport with a hand truck, it is still nice to not have to pull them around, giving our operators the opportunity to concentrate even more on their tasks at the production line.”
A self-employed employee who does not say much but still has a great personality. Does it have a name?
“Haha, no but that was actually a good idea. Maybe we should announce a competition.”
