Emballator develops new spice caps for Santa Maria – 40 percent less plastic
Posted 2022-05-10
Together with Santa Maria, Emballator Växjö has developed a new flip top cap. A user-friendly function has been combined with a reduced amount of plastic of about 40 percent.
During the spring, Santa Maria will release products with the new design on the spice caps. The product is available with four different types of sprinklers, adapted for different types of dry spices and has, compared to the old solution, a reduction of plastic of about 40 percent.
In addition to reduced plastic consumption, optimization of other environmental impacts such as shipping, packaging, and waste during the guaranteed foil punching has also been part of the project.
“We are very proud of the result and our close collaboration with Santa Maria. Keep your eyes open the next time you are in a store”, says Richard Berg, CEO of Emballator Växjö.
Together Emballator Växjö and Santa Maria have focused on the opening function during product development. The product should be easy to open, close and give a pleasant feeling and clear sound. A wish that has been achieved and which in reference tests with experimental groups has given good results.
