New LED lighting creates added value for Emballator Tectubes
Posted 2022-12-06Reduced energy consumption and better working conditions were the main reasons for Emballator Tectubes to invest in new lighting in its Hjo factory.
Tectubes’s production facility in Hjo has, like so many other factories, been depending on outdated lighting solutions equipped with traditional thick T8-fluorescent tubes. And that is not an optimal solution, says Jonas Strålman, Production Manager at Emballator Tectubes:
”This type of traditional lighting is energy-intensive, and in addition, these light sources will be phased out of the market as of September 1, 2023, due to new EU legislation. Either, the old lighting fixtures did not provide enough light. In our production, the color of the print on the tubes must be calibrated in a light that has a color tone of 5000 Kelvin. Instead of investing in completely new light cabinets for the machine lines, we chose to replace the entire lighting system – it was simply smarter from an economic, ergonomic, and quality perspective.”
The old fixtures have been replaced with new energy-efficient LED lighting. The result is 70 percent lower energy consumption for lighting. At the same time, the facility has increased production of light by four times and offers an environment where employees have better working conditions.
”Since all electricity, fittings and cables have been replaced, we also expect that we will not have any maintenance costs for the next five years. In addition, it is an obvious step in our sustainability work”, says Jonas Strålman.
