Emballator starts district heating deliveries in collaboration with Hjo Energi
Posted 2023-01-10Exploring the possibilities to create synergies within the local community is an effective way to become more sustainable and save energy. Emballator Tectubes in Hjo is now starting a collaboration with the municipal energy company Hjo Energi that will be a win-win for both parties.
The idea is that Emballator Tectubes sells surplus heat from its own processes to Hjo Energi. The excess heat comes from the VOC treatment equipment.
”Our VOC treatment equipment holds a temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius, the high temperature is needed to burn off and clean the organic substances from the lacquer used in production. The heat that remains when the process is finished has previously passed through our ventilation system out into the open air”, explains Jonas Strålman, Production Manager at Emballator Tectubes.
By connecting a recycling battery to the treatment plant, the heat can be collected and transferred to Hjo Energi’s network. A smart and relatively simple solution that means benefits for both parties.
”Our need to purchase district heating in the future will halved by supplying Hjo Energi with about 500,000 kWh every year. For Hjo Energi, our production is also a welcome addition because it reduces their need for firewood chips. This project is truly an excellent example of how to create new solutions that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.”
