Emballator offers bio-based materials from sugar cane
Posted 2023-02-21Blow-moulded packaging in bio-based or recycled materials is the focus for Emballator Mellerud. And the demands from sustainability-conscious customers are increasing.
Renewable materials are of great matter – and it will get even more important. Right now, Emballator Mellerud is experiencing a strong demand for blow-molded packaging in bio-based materials. This is also something that the company has offered for a long time. The material is made from sugar canes.
”We want to offer different types of material depending where the product is to be used and we are focusing a lot on increasing our offer of bio-based and recycled material. When you work with blow moulding like we do here in Mellerud we want to offer materials that works best for our customers’ products”, notes Markus Porath, Product Manager at Emballator Mellerud.
The bio-based material is 100 percent recyclable and Emballator Mellerud runs its production with electricity from renewable sources, meaning that the products also are sustainable in terms of environmental conditions.
”As customers prioritize sustainability, we have increased our production of packaging in bio-based materials”, says Markus Porath and continues:
”Since it is food approved, it is excellently suited for food packaging, and is available both in a rigid version (HDPE) and, now, in a softer one that is suitable for squeeze-bottles, for example dressing bottles. Cosmetics and personal care products are another area that is growing fast. In some cases, it also works for hazardous goods – among other things.”
