Safety matters at Emballator
Posted 2023-08-10According to Emballator in Ulricehamn, a safe working environment is the very core of a company’s sustainability actions. With the Arena Project they have taken safety to a new level.
David Rudensten, production developer at Emballator in Ulricehamn and educated in machine safety and certified as CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert (TÜV NORD), has been in charge of the project focusing on risk management.
”With the intention to further reduce the risk of accidents in our production, we have worked intensively on two fronts. Partly with personal safety, which deals with both visibility and handling in the business, and partly with machine safety to ensure our production equipment”, David explains.
New routines for risk assessment
All work clothes have been changed to warning clothes and higher requirements for cut protection gloves have also been introduced throughout production.
”It’s not that we haven’t met the regulations in the past, but now we’ve reached an even higher level.”
Risk assessments on all machines in production have resulted in detailed action lists. Older machines have been fitted with new protections to ensure that all production equipment meets the Machinery Directive. Updates have also been made to the safety instructions for the machine operators.
Increased security and commitment
”We feel secure that we have a good system that works. All risk observations are handled directly. I feel that we have become much better in this area. We have raised safety awareness among employees and everyone helps each other. Incidents are the first thing on the agenda every morning,” says David.
The idea is “safety first” and everyone gets involved so that no one gets hurt.
”A safe and secure workplace is simply the basis for us to be able to offer an attractive workplace that attracts the best skills and competence.”
