The process of Pail to Pail (P2P)
Posted 2024-09-17Our sustainable solution, Pail to Pail, consists of crafted pails sourced from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic pails found in Swedish recycling centers. This commitment ensures sustainability without compromising quality. The streamlined recycling and production process guarantees a reduced carbon footprint.
Pail to Pail is sorted, shredded, washed, and re-granulated in the south of Sweden which reduces the transport compared to conventional recycled plastics. We proudly present a remarkable 80% CO2e reduction compared to traditional pails made from virgin plastic.
How the P2P process works
In our quest to minimize environmental impact and promote sustainability, we have created Pail to Pail, our circular recycling process for pails. Here is an overview of the carefully planned journey that each pail undergoes:
- Production at Emballator: Pails are manufactured and distributed by Emballator to the filler.
- Filling and distribution: Pails are filled with content and distributed to paint stores. This is the first step where our pails reach their users.
- Consumer usage: Consumers purchase the pails and use them for various purposes. When the pail is empty, it is discarded and proceeds to the next stage in the process.
- Return to Recycling Center: The empty pails are collected and transported to a recycling center where they are collected as rigid plastics.
- Sorting, washing and granulation: Van Werven picks up the plastics and transports them to their facility in Sexdrega, in southern Sweden. Here, the plastic pails are sorted out, shredded, and thoroughly washed using advanced technology. After washing, the shredded plastic is now transported to a recycling company in the south of Sweden, where it is extruded into plastic granules.
- Return to Emballator: The plastic granules are transported to Emballator, where they are used as raw material to produce new pails. Here, the circle is closed, and the recycling process begins anew.
Through our Pail to Pail process, we aim not only to reduce waste and improve recycling but also to promote a sustainable and circular economy. Each step in the process is carefully designed to ensure minimal environmental impact and maximum resource recovery.
