Ensuring Safe Transport of Hazardous Goods with UN-Certified Packaging
Posted 2024-11-15At Emballator, we continue to lead the way in the packaging industry by offering a wide range of UN-certified packaging that ensures the safe transport of hazardous goods worldwide. The United Nations (UN) has established global regulations for the safe transport of hazardous goods by road, rail, sea and air. Our UN packaging meets these stringent requirements and undergoes rigorous testing to ensure they can withstand both daily handling and extreme conditions.
Hazardous goods are divided into nine different classes, each with its own level of risk and potential to cause harm. Packaging for these goods is categorized into three groups: the most dangerous products, dangerous products, and less dangerous products. The UN packaging for each group undergoes extensive testing, including drop tests, pressure tests, leak tests, and stacking tests, to ensure their durability and safety during transport.
“At Emballator, we do not settle for merely meeting today’s standards. By working closely with leading testing and certification organizations through continuous product development and user testing programs, we strive to meet future needs as well,” says Åsa Lindberg Svensson, Product Manager at Emballator Metal Group in Ulricehamn. “Our commitment to innovation and sustainability drives us to ensure that our products not only meet current UN requirements but also anticipate future demands.”
We are certified according to ISO 9001 and 14001, demonstrating our strong commitment to quality management and sustainability. We actively work to improve product quality and reduce environmental impact through systematic monitoring and goal setting.
“One of our flagship products is the Duraline™ series, which offers a flexible solution with multiple lid options. The conical design of the Duraline™ pails saves storage space by allowing empty pails to be nested inside each other, resulting in higher volumes per pallet. The design is logistically advantageous and helps optimize inventory management for both us and our customers,” says Åsa.
Our dedication to continuous testing and evaluations, both independently and in collaboration with leading organizations, ensures high quality in everything we do. Regular audits by independent certification bodies help maintain the consistency and reliability of our UN-approved packaging solutions.
