Emballator Leads the Way in Sustainable Packaging
Posted 2024-12-27At Emballator, a long-term approach is fundamental, and protecting the environment is a natural part of this philosophy. Our vision is to create packaging solutions for future generations, and achieving this goal requires addressing the greatest risk: greenhouse gas emissions from our operations. This includes both direct emissions from our production facilities and indirect emissions from use of finite resources in our raw materials and the transportation of goods.
Our climate goals are ambitious and clear:
- Achieve climate neutrality throughout the value chain by 2045.
- Halve our climate footprint per revenue by 2030 compared to 2021.
To reach these climate goals, we have implemented five key initiatives:
- Reducing Emissions from Plastics: Plastics is a contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, and we are dedicated to finding innovative ways to reduce these emissions. This includes using recycled and biobased materials, optimizing the material used, and securing the recyclability of all our products.
- Reducing Emissions from Metals: The production and use of metals also generate significant emissions. We are working to decrease these through improved material efficiency and increasing the amount of recycled aluminum.
- Improving Energy Efficiency and Producing Climate-Neutral Energy: We are committed to increasing energy efficiency across all operations. This involves upgrading to energy-efficient machinery, optimizing processes, and investing in renewable energy sources.
- Achieving Net Zero Emissions from Transportation: Transportation is also a great source of emissions, and we aim to achieve net zero emissions by 2030 by optimizing logistics, optimizing shipments using renewable fuels and when possible, transitioning to electric vehicles.
- Establishing Solutions for Circular Loops: We believe in the circular economy and are working to create circular-loop systems where plastic packaging is recycled to a similar product again. One example of how we managed this is our Pail to Pail where we produce new pails from post-consumer recycled pails. Read more about Pail to Pail here.
By focusing on these areas, we aim to not only meet our goals but also set a benchmark for sustainability in the packaging industry.
