Henkel and Emballator at their best collaboration

Almost 30 years ago, Henkel Adhesive Technologies and Emballator began a longstanding partnership, and it has been instrumental in advancing packaging technology. Henkel’s innovative sealant products are crucial to ensure the quality and safety of Emballator’s metal packaging. It is used for the lids to make sure that the bins are kept close no matter what solvents, and fulfill all regulations and rules, if exposed to external impacts or mechanical stresses.
For many years, we have used Henkel’s PVC sealant Darex COV 53 for our lids due to its low permeability, high elasticity, and excellent adhesion to tinplate lids. However, the presence of phthalates in COV 53 has been a concern.
Emballator provides more sustainable packaging solutions to their customers. As part of this commitment, we are delighted to announce a significant change in our product line: Henkels’ latest innovation, phthalate-free lid-sealant compounds. We can replace the older generation.
Henkel Adhesive Technologies has developed a new PVC sealant compound, Darex COV 73, which is free of phthalates and meets the same performance standards as COV 53. Together, we conducted rigorous chemical and physical tests to confirm that Darex COV 73 meets all necessary requirements, including UN standards. The results show that the new phthalate-free compound performs as well as its predecessor.
Sustainability is at the core of both Emballator’s and Henkel’s strategies. By developing phthalate-free compounds, Henkel supports Emballator’s vision of developing sustainable packaging solutions for future generations.
