Energy saving projects provide more efficient production at Emballator in Ulricehamn
Posted 2022-06-14In two years, Emballator in Ulricehamn has streamlined its energy use by 10 percent.
”By implementing a lot of different initiatives, we are now consuming less energy per manufactured product. We have also taken another step towards becoming climate neutral”, says Ulrica Emanuelsson, Quality & Environmental Manager at Emballator Metal Group in Ulricehamn.
With increasing electricity prices, energy savings in production are really a win-win: for the environment as well as for the economy. Emballator in Ulricehamn has implemented several different energy-saving measures.
”During the period 2019-2021, we have reduced energy consumption by 10% per manufactured product in kilos,” says Ulrica Emanuelsson.
Better utilization of materials, less waste and optimized control of the ovens are some of the measures that have made result.
“We have also invested in new LED lighting in Ulricehamn. Charging stations for employees driving electric cars have been installed as well as motion sensors on our water taps. ”
But the environmental impact is not just about how much energy you use – it is also about what kind of energy you use, states Ulrica Emanuelsson.
“Among other things, we have installed a new printing press for UV-curing paint that is powered by electricity instead of LPG. Today, just under 40% of our total energy consumption consists of electricity, and the electricity we use comes from green sources. The past few years we have taken several important steps towards our goal of becoming climate neutral!”
